The season has yet to begin, but the first weather-related schedule change of the year is already upon us for the Valparaiso University baseball team.
The long winter wait is in the books and the Valparaiso University baseball team is poised to commence the 2020 campaign on Friday afternoon in Bowling Green, Ky. For the second time in the last four years, Valpo will begin the season by visiting Western Kentucky for a three-game series. This begins the annual road gauntlet that opens the Valpo season as Friday will be the first of 22 consecutive games away from home prior to the Emory G. Bauer Field opener on March 24.
Two words that hold a special ring to baseball fans across the world will be spoken this week with regard to the Valparaiso University baseball team – Opening Day.
With the support of two generous gifts, the project to renovate Bauer Field, Valparaiso University’s baseball field, is off to a strong start. The two gifts total $550,000 and will provide the resources to install synthetic turf on the infield and down the foul lines. The total project will be done in two phases and, when completed, will transform Bauer Field into a quality Missouri Valley Conference facility.
