Knutson, Daniels, Bateman Selected To Academic All-Pioneer Football League First Team
Valparaiso University wide receiver Kevin Knutson, cornerback Chris Daniels and punter Ryan Bateman were named to the Academic All-Pioneer Football League First Team. The team was selected by a vote of the league's sports information directors.

Butler Upsets Valpo 25-21; Crusaders Share PFL North Title With San Diego
Butler scored 18 points in the second half, including Billy Nardini's 3-yard go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, as the Bulldogs upset Valpo 25-21. The Crusaders (6-4, 3-1 PFL North) share the Pioneer Football League North Division title with San Diego, which defeated Dayton 41-30.

Giancola, Macchi, Reid Lead High-Powered Attack In Win Over Austin Peay
Rob Giancola caught three touchdown passes of 67, 57 and 3 yards as Valpo (2-1) defeated Austin Peay 38-14. David Macchi led a balanced Crusader attack with 333 total yards. The senior passed for 232 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 101 yards. Nick Reid, a 6'1", 252-pound junior, finished with 121 yards on 20 carries. For the second straight game, Valpo displayed a productive, well-balanced offense, compiling 555 total yards. Kevin Knutson led Valpo with 8 receptions for 94 yards.

Crusaders Travel To Play Austin Peay Saturday
Fresh off its first win of the season, Valpo (1-1) will travel to Clarksville, Tenn. to oppose Austin Peay (0-2) on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Crusaders defeated Wisconsin Lutheran 33-13 last Saturday in the home opener. In its home opener, Austin Peay fell to Campbellsville 17-14.

Among the recruits are eight offensive linemen, six running backs, five linebackers, four quarterbacks, four defensive linemen, four defensive backs, two wide receivers, two tight ends and two kickers.

Valpo To Conduct Football Camp
Valparaiso University will host a Kids First Football & Fitness Football Camp July 21-24 at Brown Field. Valpo head coach Tom Horne, who will direct the camp, will be joined as instructors by several members of the Valpo coaching staff. The camp, for ages 6-14, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. The cost of the basic camp starts at $149 per person. Fees may vary upon registration.
