Valpo Athletics Announces Spectator Policy for March 27 Football Game

Valparaiso University has announced plans to modify its spectator policy for Saturday’s football game between Valpo and Butler, which kicks off at 1 p.m. CT at Brown Field.

Valpo football student-athletes, coaches and team personnel will be permitted four tickets each on a pass list. The visiting team will receive a 126-person pass list, and 100 tickets will be available at no cost for Valpo students with a valid ID.

Everyone in attendance at Saturday’s game will be required to have a physical ticket. Spectators are required to wear facial coverings at all times and adhere to physical distancing guidelines.

Valpo students who wish to attend should pick up their ticket from the Valpo ticket office, located in the Athletics-Recreation Center, on Thursday or Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Students will need to present an ID both at the time of pickup and upon entry into Brown Field. There will be a designated student section in the south bleachers.

Butler fans will be required to remain on the north side of Brown Field, while Valpo fans are required to remain on the south side. Visiting spectators should utilize the northwest entrance to the field, while Valpo spectators should enter through the southwest gate. Individuals on the team pass lists can pick up their tickets at their respective entrance on gameday. No fans will be permitted to enter through the southeast gate, which will be a team-only entrance.

Spectators are not permitted to bring food or drink into Brown Field. No tailgating will be allowed due to COVID-19 protocols, and the Valparaiso University Police Department (VUPD) will ask anyone tailgating in any lot on campus to leave the property.

Gates will open at noon, one hour prior to kickoff. Parking will be free, but lots will not open to spectators until noon.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are not available to the general public, but the game will be broadcast on ESPN+ in addition to the Valpo Sports Network (95.1 FM Valparaiso and the TuneIn Radio App). Links to live video, audio and stats will be available on ValpoAthletics.com.

Valpo Athletics continues to work with campus leadership and appropriate local and state health officials in determining spectator policies based on the latest campus, county and state COVID-19 information.
