Crusader Men’s Basketball to Hold Summer Camps


Spots are still available in the Valparaiso University men’s basketball team’s three basketball camps this summer, for youths of all ages and skill levels. The Valpo Mini Camp and Valpo Basketball School will run June 22-25, while the Valpo Basketball Academy will take place July 27-31.


Olympia Entertainment, Horizon League Reach Agreement on Men’s Basketball Championship


The Horizon League Executive Council approved an agreement in principle with Olympia Entertainment to host the Horizon League Men’s Basketball Tournament in the city of Detroit. Under terms of the five-year agreement, Olympia Entertainment will host the men’s basketball tournament beginning in 2016 - the first two years at Joe Louis Arena and the final three years at the new Detroit Events Center.


Powell, Adekoya, Joseph to Head on AIA Tour of Poland


Roger Powell, Jr. will serve as head coach of an Athletes in Action squad which will tour Poland this June. Among the 10 players on the team will be fellow Crusaders Jubril Adekoya and Max Joseph.


Eight Crusaders Earn Winter Academic All-League Accolades


Valparaiso University placed eight student-athletes over four sports on the Horizon League’s 2015 Winter Academic All-League Teams, as announced today by the league office. Men's indoor track and field had three student-athletes honored, while men's basketball and women's indoor track and field had two apiece and men's swimming had one as well.

Sophomore Alec Peters led all scorers with 18 points, but the Crusaders' last-second chance to send the game to overtime was thwarted in a 65-62 loss to Maryland at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio on Friday night in the Second Round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament. Peters canned a three-pointer at the 7:35 mark of the second half to become the first sophomore in program history to crack the 1,000-point plateau.

Making its ninth appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1996, the 13th-seeded Valparaiso men’s basketball team travels to Columbus, Ohio to open tournament play with a Second Round game against fourth-seeded Maryland on Friday afternoon at approximately 3:45 p.m. CT. Ticket, Bus Information for NCAA Tournament


The Valparaiso University ticket office will be selling NCAA Tournament tickets beginning at 10 a.m. Monday morning. Tickets through Valpo will be $100 per person for the first 350 fans, including students. The ticket office will be taking orders both by phone (1-877-MY-VU-TIX) or in person in the main lobby of the ARC. In addition, the Alumni Association will be organizing a chartered bus trip to Columbus, as well as a pregame lunch buffet at Nationwide Arena.


Crusaders, Terrapins to Face Off at 3:45 p.m. CT on Friday


Valparaiso will tip off in the 2015 NCAA Tournament in its Second Round game against Maryland at approximately 4:45 p.m. ET/3:45 p.m. CT from Columbus, Ohio on Friday afternoon. The game between the 13th-seeded Crusaders and fourth-seeded Terrapins will be broadcast live in its entirety on TNT, with Ian Eagle and Doug Gottlieb on the call. The Valpo ticket office will be open at 10 a.m. on Monday, while more details about bus trips through the Alumni Office will be available on Monday as well.

The Valparaiso men’s basketball team received a no. 13 seed for the 2015 NCAA Tournament and will open tournament play with a second-round game against no. 4 seed Maryland on Friday, March 20. Valpo will take on the Terrapins in Columbus, Ohio, with game time to be determined later this evening.


Selection Show Party to Be Held Sunday Night; NCAA Tournament Page Unveiled


The Valparaiso University Alumni Association invites fans to join the Crusaders on Selection Sunday as they find out their opponent and destination for the 2015 NCAA Tournament. The viewing party will be held in the Ballrooms of the Harre Union on campus beginning at 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The Crusaders Are Going Dancing Again!


Faced with adversity, trailing by 10 late in the first half and without one of their starting guards, the Crusaders did what they have done all season long – stepped up to the challenge. Valpo scored the final two baskets of the first half and then dominated the second half, outscoring Green Bay 35-19 to earn a 54-44 victory and claim the 2015 Horizon League Championship – Valpo’s second league title in three years. With the win, the Crusaders return to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in the Division I era.

The Valparaiso men’s basketball team moved one step closer to its second Horizon League Championship trophy in three years on Saturday night at the ARC, ending the game on a 7-2 run and earning a 60-55 victory over fourth-seeded Cleveland State to advance to the league tournament championship game. The Valparaiso men’s basketball team made sure they would share the title banner with no other team on Friday night, winning at Cleveland State 56-53 to finish atop the league with a 13-3 record. Alec Peters' four-point play with 1:11 to play all but capped the win as he finished with 15 points, as the Crusaders secured hosting duties for the 2015 Horizon League Championship.
