Kevion Taylor Signs Professional Contract

Kevion Taylor (Milwaukee, Wis. / Whitnall [Winona State]) recently joined the long list of former Valparaiso University men’s basketball players who have gone on to play professionally following their careers with the Brown & Gold.

Taylor has signed his first professional contract with Lavrio Megabolt in Lavrio, Attica, Greece.

Taylor completed his collegiate career in 2021-2022, setting up his professional opportunity by putting together a strong season for the Beacons. He played in all 32 games and made 28 starts, averaging 12.8 points per game while shooting 38.3 percent from 3 and 80.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Taylor tied for the team lead with 50 assists and finished second on the squad in steals with 29. He scored in double figures 19 times to finish his collegiate career with 100 double-figure scoring outputs. He led the team in scoring on eight occasions.

The fifth-year standout finished ninth in the MVC in made 3s per game at 2.1 and was fifth in the league in minutes per game at 34.5. He had an impressive streak of 84 consecutive games with a made 3-pointer end on Jan. 30, 2022 at Southern Illinois, one of the longest streaks in NCAA history.

Taylor scored his 2,000th collegiate point on Feb. 23 vs. Drake, becoming just the third player in program history to score his 2,000th collegiate point while playing for Valpo, joining program legends Alec Peters and Bryce Drew. He became the 27th active player at that time at all levels of NCAA basketball to reach that milestone.

Taylor, who transferred to Valpo after four years at Division-II Winona State, was the second member of the 2021-2022 Valpo basketball senior class to go on to a professional opportunity, as Eron Gordon played in the NBA Summer League with the Houston Rockets.
