Crusaders Compete at Lakefront Invitational

With half of the team having competed on Friday afternoon at the Notre Dame Invitational, the rest of the Valpariaso men's cross country team headed to Chicago on Saturday for the Loyola Lakefront Invitational.

The Crusaders finished in 32nd place out of 45 teams in the race, which saw the host Ramblers runaway with the team title.

Kyle Jones (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) was the first Valpo runner across the finish line, finishing in 218th place with a time of 28:07. Nick Galac (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich./Grosse Pointe South H.S.) placed 261st overall with his time of 28:38, while David Iott (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger H.S.) was 15 seconds in back of Galac running third for the Crusaders. Jed Reisetter (Lewiston, Minn./Lewiston-Altura H.S.) crossed the line in 29:18 and Mark Flora (Knox, Ind./Knox H.S.) finished in 29:26 to complete the scoring for the Brown and Gold.

Valpo will take the weekend off before splitting the squad again on October 19. Half of the team will travel to the Pre-NCAA Meet in Terre Haute, Ind., while the remainder of the team will head to the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational.
