Valpo Finishes 10th at Indiana Intercollegiates

The Valparaiso University men's cross country team finished in tenth place out of 26 teams at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships on Friday afternoon in Terre Haute, Ind.

Indiana swept the top five places to win the meet with 15 points, followed by Purdue and Southern Indiana. The Crusaders tallied 344 points on the afternoon.

Freshman Chris Orosz (Holland, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit H.S.) led the way for the Brown and Gold with a 24th place finish in a time of 26:11.7 over the eight-kilometer course. Rick Wenger (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere H.S.) finished second on the team and 52nd overall with a time of 26:46.9. Matt Blume (Logansport, Ind./Pioneer H.S.) was 1.1 seconds behind Wenger in 54th place.

Adam Piaskowy (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee H.S.) finished fourth for Valpo with a time of 27:19.6, while Nick Galac (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich./Grosse Pointe South H.S.) rounded out the scoring with a time of 28:30.7.

Valpo will return to action on October 3 when the Crusaders travel to the Notre Dame Invitational for a 2:45 p.m. meet.
