Valparaiso women's cross country finished in 21st place at the Bradley "Pink" Classic Friday afternoon in Peoria, Illinois. Meanwhile, the men's team managed a 19th-place finish.
Just as she has all season, junior Jessica Richardson (Columbus, Ind./North) led all Crusaders. Richardson seized 32nd place out of 200 runners as she completed the 6K course in 21:51. Senior Claire Johnson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) clocked in at 23:14 which earned her a 129th-place finish overall. Sophomore Dezzarae Arce (Orland Park, Ill./Victor J Andrew) was on Johnson's heels thanks to a 23:27 time. Fellow sophomore Hannah Schilling (Fraser, Mich./Lutheran North) rounded out the qualifying times for Valpo as she recorded a 23:37 finish.
On the men's side, junior David Rutkowski (Cedarburg, Wis./Living Word Lutheran) led all Valpo runners in the 8K race with a time of 26:04. Senior Matt Przybyla (Whitmore Lake, Mich./Pinckney) garnered a second-place finish with his time of 26:15. Freshman Dan Walters (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) crossed the line at 26:43 with fellow freshman Adam Bruno (Bloomington, Ill./Normal) clocking in at 27:07.
Valparaiso will have two weeks off before competing in the Horizon League Championships in Youngstown, Ohio. The meet begins Saturday, November 2nd.
