Cross Country Prepares for Horizon League Championships

The first Horizon League Championship of the 2015-16 academic year is up for grabs this weekend in Cedarville, Ohio. The Valparaiso cross country teams return to the Ervin R. King XC Course for their penultimate event of the season.

Junior Liz Bloy (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) highlights the women’s side. She has paced the Crusaders in each of the first four events this season. A First Team All-League performer a year ago, Bloy is trending in the right direction after completing the Notre Dame Invite 5K in 19:10.6. She covered last year's Championship 6K course in a personal-best 21:57.

On the men’s side, four different runners have led the Crusaders this fall.

Max Morello (Plano, Ill./Plano), Jesse Greenhagen (Waverly, Minn./Mayer Lutheran), Leland Robertson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids), Ben Zibricky (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way Central), and Dan Walters (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) each set personal records last time out at the Bradley 'Pink' Classic on October 16th. Adam Bruno (Bloomington, Ill./University) recorded a 27:09.0 finish, a team-best, at the Friendship Invitational 8K held in Cedarville six weeks ago.
