Valpo Reveals 2022 Cross Country Schedule

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s cross country programs have announced their schedule for the 2022 season, which will take place under the direction of first-year head coach Vincent Walker.

The Winrow Valparaiso Open, the program’s annual home meet, will kick off the slate on Friday, Sept. 2 at Sunset Hill Farm County Park in Valparaiso. This will mark the 33rd running of Valpo’s home meet, which is named in honor of former Valpo head coach Ed Winrow, who passed away in March 2020. The women’s 5K will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s 6K at 5:45 p.m.

After opening the season at home, the Beacons head to East Lansing, Mich. on Friday, Sept. 16 for the Spartan Invite hosted by Michigan State. The team will make the short trip to Notre Dame, Ind. for the Joe Piane Invite hosted by the Fighting Irish on Friday, Sept. 30.

The final meet prior to the conference championship will be the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday, Oct. 14 in Peoria, Ill. That will set the stage for the MVC Championship on Friday, Oct. 28, hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. Valpo will head back to Terre Haute two weeks later for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, Nov. 11.
