Crusader Men’s Golf Earns Third at Twin Oaks Intercollegiate
Peter Webb tied for second individually.

The Valparaiso University men’s golf team finished near the top of the pack after closing out the final 18 holes Tuesday at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate, hosted by Missouri State at Twin Oaks C.C. in Springfield, Mo. The Crusaders finished the final round in third place, led by junior Peter Webb (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial), who tied for second individually.

Valpo ended the two-day trip with a third-round score of 304, bringing its 54-hole score to 892 for the third-place finish. Central Arkansas won the inaugural Twin Oaks Intercollegiate with an 874.

Webb nearly claimed the individual tournament title on Tuesday, shooting a final-round 73 (+2) to give him a three-round score of 216. Webb’s 54-hole total was just one stroke off of Central Arkansas’ Luis Obiols for individual medalist honors.

Junior Nick Seitz (Xenia, Ohio/Carroll) and senior Jared Magoline (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac [Marquette]) both tied for twenty-fifth overall with a score of 227. Seitz shot an 81 during the third round, while Magoline tied for the Crusaders’ best round of the tournament with a 71.

Sophomore Michael Doherty (Lisle, Ill./Naperville North) placed fourth for the Crusaders, finishing in a tie for 31st with a 54-hole score of 229, shooting an 80 on Tuesday. Senior Matt Ward (Plainfield, Ill./South) ended the day one stroke back of Doherty at 230 in a tie for 33rd, also shooting an 80 in the third and final round.

Valparaiso will kick off April in Dayton, Ohio at the Wright State Intercollegiate on April 3rd and 4th.
