Glimpse of the Future: Youthful Lineup Closes Out 2018-19 Season for Valpo Men’s Golf
The Valparaiso University men’s golf team closed out the 2018-19 season with Tuesday’s third and final round of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship at The Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Mo. Valpo’s top three finishers were underclassmen, led by freshman Garrett Willis (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead), who finished tied for 10th overall. Two freshmen finished with single-season scoring averages that rank in the Top 10 in program history, setting up a bright future for Valpo golf.

Men’s Golf Opens Up MVC Championship
The Valparaiso University men’s golf team finds itself in the middle of the pack after one day of competition at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in Sunrise Beach, Mo. After turning in the best round of the day by any Valpo golfer on Monday afternoon, freshman Garrett Willis (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) enters Tuesday in the Top 10 in the individual standings.

Valpo Climbs to Fourth in Team Standings with Strong Showing on Monday
The Valparaiso University men’s golf team put together a quality round at the Wright State Invitational in Springboro, Ohio on Monday. Valpo trimmed nine strokes off its first-round score to vault to fourth place in the 12-team event. Jack Juskow (Greenville, S.C. / Hamilton Southeastern) cracked the program record book with his round on Monday.

Willis Paces Valpo in Round 1 at Wright State
Freshman Garrett Willis (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) continued his recent solid play, leading the Valparaiso University men’s golf team in the opening round of the Wright State Invitational on Sunday at Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro, Ohio. The participating teams were slated to play two rounds on Sunday, but the second round was canceled due to rain. The event has been shortened to a 36-hole format with the final round being played as scheduled on Monday.

Willis Leads Way on Day 1 in Indy
A career best from freshman Garrett Willis (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) paced the Valparaiso University men’s golf team on Day 1 of the Butler Spring Invitational hosted at Highland Golf and Country Club in Indianapolis. Monday’s originally-scheduled morning round was cancelled due to cold and course conditions, but the afternoon round went on as scheduled as the tournament format was tweaked from 54 holes to 36.

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s golf teams were slated to compete in the Bradley Spring Classic hosted at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. this weekend. Wet course conditions and rain in the forecast have forced the cancellation of the tournament.

Toman Leads Valpo on Final Day at UNA
Freshman Charlie Toman (Chardon, Ohio / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) owned the team lead for the Valparaiso University men’s golf team on Tuesday, carding a 74 in the third and final round of the UNA Spring Classic hosted by Northern Alabama. Valpo finished with a three-round team score of 900.

Juskow Leads Valpo on Day 1 in Alabama
The Valparaiso University men’s golf team completed the first 36 holes of the UNA Spring Classic hosted by the University of North Alabama on Monday at Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club in Killen, Ala. Jack Juskow (Greenville, S.C. / Hamilton Southeastern), who finished the 36 holes at two strokes over par, holds the team lead entering the final round of the event.

Toman Turns in Top 10 Finish in First Spring Tournament
The Valparaiso University men’s golf team completed the final round of the Invitational at Savannah Harbor on Sunday at The Club in Savannah, Ga. Freshman Charlie Toman (Chardon, Ohio / Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) was the top Valpo golfer on the first weekend of the spring season as he once again turned in a team-best on Sunday to complete a Top 10 finish in the event.

The Valparaiso University men’s golf team opened up the spring season on Saturday, golfing 36 holes at the Invitational at Savannah Harbor hosted at The Club in Savannah, Ga. Men’s Golf Closes Out Fall Season on Tuesday
Valparaiso University men’s golf senior Mitchell Wittmann (Kaukauna, Wis. / Kaukauna) made sure the fall portion of his collegiate career ended on a high note with his efforts at this week’s Titans Motown Collegiate hosted by Detroit Mercy in Highland, Mich. Golfing as an individual, Wittmann once again had the best 18-hole score of any Valpo player in Tuesday’s Round 3, finishing in a tie for sixth overall in a 60-player field.

Valparaiso University men’s golf freshman Charlie Toman (Chardon, Ohio / Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) turned in the team’s top score in the third and final round of the Zach Johnson Invitational hosted by Drake in Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday, moving into a tie with fellow freshman Garrett Willis (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) for the 54-hole team lead at 224 (+11).

The Valparaiso University men’s golf team was once again paced by a pair of freshmen on the first day of the Zach Johnson Invitational hosted by Drake in Des Moines, Iowa on Monday. Garrett Willis (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) led his team with a 150 (+8) through two rounds, while Charlie Toman (Chardon, Ohio / Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) followed closely with a 153 (+11).

Willis Leads Valpo on Final Day of Derek Dolenc Invitational
The youth of the Valparaiso University men’s golf team continued to thrive on Tuesday at the Derek Dolenc Invitational hosted by SIU Edwardsville in Madison, Ill. Freshman Garrett Willis (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) garnered a Top 20 finish in the 96-player event, turning in a team-best 72 (+1) in Round 3 to finish at 216. As a team, Valpo placed ninth of 17.

Men’s Golf Ahead of Four MVC Foes at Derek Dolenc Invitational
The Valparaiso University men’s golf team is off to a promising start through two rounds of the Derek Dolenc Invitational, standing in eighth of 17 teams with an 18-hole score of 584. Only one Missouri Valley Conference team is ahead of Valpo in the standings (Bradley, third), while Valpo leads four conference foes – Missouri State, Drake, UNI and Loyola.

Valpo Completes Successful Crusader Collegiate
The Valparaiso University men’s golf team rounded out a successful home tournament on Tuesday with the final 18 holes of the Crusader Collegiate at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton. Valpo played host to a 13-team event that featured beautiful weather on both days. Valpo tied for fifth in the team standings, led by a strong showing from senior Mitchell Wittmann (Kaukauna, Wis. / Kaukauna), who tied for third.

The lone home tournament of the season for the Valparaiso University men’s golf team got underway on Monday at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton. All 10 Valpo golfers participated in the event, as Valpo featured an A and B team as part of a 13-team field. The top Valpo team sits in a tie for sixth place entering the final round.

Men’s Golf Blends Youth with Experience on Way to Second-Best Round in Program History
A senior and a freshman tied for the team lead as three members of the Valparaiso University men’s golf team carded two under par or better in Sunday’s first round of the Golfweek Program Challenge at True Blue in Myrtle Beach, S.C. That helped the team finish the day six strokes under par and tied for sixth in a competitive 14-team field. Valpo’s 18-hole score of 282 was the second-best single-round performance in program history and the best since 2014.

The Valparaiso University men’s golf team closed out a strong Labor Day weekend showing by turning in a team score of six over par (294) in the final round of the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate on Monday. Valpo climbed from ninth to seventh in a competitive 18-team field in the season’s first tournament, which was held in Verona, N.Y.
