After earning individual medalist honors in a 99-player field at this week’s Valpo Fall Invitational, Valparaiso University men’s golf sophomore Anthony Delisanti (Sanborn, N.Y. / Niagara Wheatfield) has earned Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week honors.
Delisanti’s win came as part of a dominant performance for the Beacons at the par-72, 7082-yard Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Ind. He earned medalist recognition for the third time in his collegiate career by posting a 208 (70-69-69, -8), tied for third in modern program history in 54-hole tournament score in overall score and tied for second in relation to par.
The defending Missouri Valley Conference individual champion boasted Valpo's best 54-hole tournament performance in relation to par since 2015 this week. He helped the team garner the team title and post the second-best team score in program history (-10). He edged teammate Caleb VanArragon by a single stroke for medalist honors, and the team’s entire starting lineup finished in the top 13 on the player leaderboard.
The Beacons will be back in action on Monday at the Zach Johnson Invitational, hosted at Glen Oaks CC in West Des Moines, Iowa.
