Bob Brooks is entering his 17th year as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Valpo Athletics in 2020-21. He began his work at Valpo in 1994 as a part-time consultant for the baseball, men's basketball and women's basketball programs. In his role as the director of strength and conditioning, Brooks oversees a pair of athletic weight rooms, including the Mosak Performance Center.
Brooks works directly with the Valpo volleyball, men's basketball, men's/women's golf, bowling and men's/women's swimming programs.
Brooks has worked in various gyms throughout his career training individuals. He has worked with former world boxing champion Angel Manfredy, several Major League Baseball players, world champion bodybuilders, and over 40 basketball players that have gone on to play professional basketball.
A former competitive powerlifter and bodybuilder, Brooks also serves as a consultant for high school and college programs, as well as businesses and non-profits, in the areas of facility design, equipment selection and programming. He has also worked in the fitness industry in various capacities, the last being as general manager and co-owner of Gold's Gym in Merrillville.
Brooks is a certified sports performance coach by the United States Weightlifting Association (USWA), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), in addition to the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA).
Brooks earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University Northwest and his master's degree in sports administration from Valparaiso University in 2014. He resides in Valparaiso.
