Men’s Soccer Adds Steffen Pulinx to Incoming Class


Valparaiso University men’s soccer head coach Mike Avery announced today that Steffen Pulinx, a 6’3” defender from Genk, Belgium, will be joining the Crusader program as a freshman entering the 2016 season. Pulinx joins the previously announced class of incoming players to give Valpo an eight-player group of newcomers for 2016.

The 2016 class is comprised of student-athletes from three different U.S. states and four total countries, and joins a Valpo squad that is looking to build off a 7-6-5 (3-3-3 Horizon) season in 2015 – a season which included a 3-1-1 mark for the Crusaders against teams ranked in the top-25 nationally. Lawrence, Madrid Earn NSCAA All-Region Accolades


The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team had a pair of players honored Thursday as the NSCAA released its postseason All-Region squads, as juniors Omar Lawrence (Kingston, Jamaica/Excelsior) and Isaiah Madrid (Albuquerque, N.M./Eldorado [FGCU]) both were named Third Team All-Great Lakes Region honorees.


Valpo Men’s Soccer to Host VIP Winter Futsal Camp


The Valparaiso University men’s soccer program will be hosting its VIP Winter Futsal Camp at the Athletics-Recreation Center on Sunday, December 20 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp is open to all high school students currently in grades 9-12.


Campbell Named HL Goalkeeper of the Year; Madrid All-League


Valparaiso junior goalkeeper Nico Campbell (Kingston, Jamaica/St. George’s College) has been tabbed the Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year and a First Team All-League honoree as the league announced its postseason award recipients on Monday. In addition, junior Isaiah Madrid (Albuquerque, N.M./Eldorado [FGCU]) earned a spot on the Second Team All-League squad.


Men’s Soccer Nets Three In Shutout of Green Bay Friday


Playing in its regular season finale Friday night at Brown Field, the Valparaiso University men’s soccer team took its chances well early to gain a quick lead and then stood strong defensively throughout, as the Crusaders earned a 3-0 Horizon League victory over Green Bay. Unfortunately for the Crusaders, the win was not enough to push their side into the field for the Horizon League Championship.


Crusader Men Gear Up for League Finale


The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team looks to qualify for the Horizon League Championship as it faces league foe Green Bay on Friday night at Brown Field. This game is the last regular season match of the 2015 season, and will be the final home match for Crusader seniors Jordan Aidoud, Jorge Bermudez and Jacob Gandarilla. Valpo soccer scarves will be handed out to the first 150 students at the game Friday as well.

The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team struck first Saturday night at Oakland in search of a key three points in the Horizon League standings, but it would be the Golden Grizzlies to eventually come out on top, 2-1, as they scored less than one minute into extra time.

The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team won in dramatic fashion Monday night at Brown Field, winning in the first overtime against #23 Omaha on the first career goal by sophomore Andrew Avram (Scottsdale, Ariz./Saguaro).
