Valparaiso University to Join Missouri Valley Conference


Valparaiso University president Mark A. Heckler, Ph.D., announced today that the University has accepted an invitation to join the Missouri Valley Conference on July 1, 2017. The Crusaders will begin competing for MVC championships in the 2017–2018 academic year.


Men’s Soccer Announces 2017 Coaching Staff


The Valparaiso University men’s soccer program has announced its coaching staff for the 2017 season. Valpo head coach Mike Avery has tabbed veteran coach and former professional player Chris Pfau as the team’s top assistant, while two-time Valparaiso graduate Brendan Roth returns to his alma mater as an assistant coach.


Valpo Men’s Soccer Announces 2016-17 Award Winners


The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team wrapped the 2017 spring season in style and with a flair for the dramatic, as the Crusaders found two goals in the final 15 minutes to top the Valparaiso Alumni Team 4-3 in an exciting match on Sunday afternoon at Brown Field. With the win, the Crusaders finish the spring with a record of 7-1, with the only loss a 2-1 defeat back in February at Indiana University. Now, the team turns its attention to putting the final pieces in place in anticipation of the fall 2017 season.

Osifeso, a redshirt junior midfielder / forward, transferred from Campbell, while Waugaman, a redshirt sophomore defender, comes to the Crusaders from Oregon State.

Men's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw, Milwaukee Advances on Shootout


The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team saw its season come to an end on Monday night in Milwaukee, Wis. The Crusaders and Panthers played to a scoreless draw through 110 minutes, but Milwaukee converted on all five penalty kicks to take the shootout and advance to the Horizon League Tournament semifinals. This marks the second time in the last three years that the Valpo season has ended on a penalty kick shootout in the first round of the tournament.

The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team has been picked to finish fourth in the Horizon League in 2016, according to preseason polling of the league’s head coaches. The Crusaders did pick up three first-place votes, matching the most of any team in the league.


Aidoud Signs Professional Contract in France


Valparaiso University men’s soccer head coach Mike Avery confirmed today that 2015 Crusader co-captain Jordan Aidoud (Lyon, France) signed a professional contract last week with Jura Sud Foot. Jura Sud is based in Lavans-les-Saint-Claude in eastern France, and currently competes in Group C of the CFA, which is the 4th tier of soccer in France. Aidoud joins an impressive list of former Crusaders who have moved on to professional soccer following their graduation from Valparaiso.
