Valparaiso University to Join Missouri Valley Conference
Valparaiso University president Mark A. Heckler, Ph.D., announced today that the University has accepted an invitation to join the Missouri Valley Conference on July 1, 2017. The Crusaders will begin competing for MVC championships in the 2017–2018 academic year.

Men’s Soccer Announces 2017 Coaching Staff
The Valparaiso University men’s soccer program has announced its coaching staff for the 2017 season. Valpo head coach Mike Avery has tabbed veteran coach and former professional player Chris Pfau as the team’s top assistant, while two-time Valparaiso graduate Brendan Roth returns to his alma mater as an assistant coach.

Valpo Men’s Soccer Announces 2016-17 Award Winners
The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team wrapped the 2017 spring season in style and with a flair for the dramatic, as the Crusaders found two goals in the final 15 minutes to top the Valparaiso Alumni Team 4-3 in an exciting match on Sunday afternoon at Brown Field. With the win, the Crusaders finish the spring with a record of 7-1, with the only loss a 2-1 defeat back in February at Indiana University. Now, the team turns its attention to putting the final pieces in place in anticipation of the fall 2017 season.

The success of Valparaiso University men’s soccer alumni continued on Tuesday, as former Crusader Stefan Antonijevic signed a two-year deal with Lillestrom SK in Norway’s top professional league.

Crusaders Welcome Transfers Osifeso, Waugaman to Men’s Soccer Program
The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team has announced the addition of transfers Babatunji Osifeso (Laurel, Md. / Laurel) and Dylan Waugaman (Houston, Texas / Friendswood) to the program. Osifeso, a redshirt junior midfielder / forward, transferred from Campbell, while Waugaman, a redshirt sophomore defender, comes to the Crusaders from Oregon State.

Men's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw, Milwaukee Advances on Shootout
The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team saw its season come to an end on Monday night in Milwaukee, Wis. The Crusaders and Panthers played to a scoreless draw through 110 minutes, but Milwaukee converted on all five penalty kicks to take the shootout and advance to the Horizon League Tournament semifinals. This marks the second time in the last three years that the Valpo season has ended on a penalty kick shootout in the first round of the tournament.

Seven Valpo Players Receive League Accolades
The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team hauled in all-league honors as the Horizon League announced its 2016 award winners on Monday. Seniors Isaiah Madrid (Albuquerque, N.M. / Eldorado [Florida Gulf Coast]) and Omar Lawrence (Kingston, Jamaica / Excelsior) captured places on the first-team, while seniors Kendan Anderson (Portmore, Jamaica / St. George’s College [South Florida / ASA College]), Adrian Graham (Kingston, Jamaica / St. George’s College) and Nico Campbell (Kingston, Jamaica / St. George’s College) received second-team recognition.

The most significant and exciting time of the Valparaiso University men’s soccer season has arrived as the Crusaders visit Milwaukee in a Horizon League Tournament first-round fixture. The Crusaders can extend their season and set the program record for victories in a single year with a triumphant effort on Monday.

Valpo Falls to Wright State, Clinches Spot in Horizon League Tournament
The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team allowed two second-half goals in a 2-0 loss to Wright State on Friday night at Brown Field. By virtue of Milwaukee’s dramatic 1-0 win over Cleveland State, which came on a 90th minute goal, the Crusaders have secured a spot in the Horizon League Tournament and will play at Milwaukee in the first round on Monday.

Anderson Provides Fastest Hat Trick in NCAA History in Victory over IUPUI
In what seemed like the blink of an eye, Valparaiso University men’s soccer player Kendan Anderson (Portmore, Jamaica / St. George’s College [South Florida / ASA College]) transformed Monday’s matinee with nonleague foe IUPUI into a game he won’t soon forget. The Valpo senior scored three times in 1:21, the fastest three consecutive goals by an individual player in NCAA history, to help the Crusaders down the Jaguars 5-0.

Inspirational Journey: Valpo Men’s Soccer Captain Embraces New Opportunity
Less than four years ago, Omar Lawrence ’16 accepted a full athletic scholarship from Valparaiso University to play soccer. He had never been outside the Caribbean and couldn’t afford to visit the University, but was fully aware that everything he had been working for since he was a boy playing soccer in the streets of Jamaica was becoming his reality.

The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team closes out its preseason action Monday evening as it makes the short trip east to take on #9 Notre Dame at 4 p.m. CT. The Crusaders are proud to team up with the Fighting Irish for their annual match to benefit Grassroot Soccer (GRS), an international non-governmental organization that uses the power of soccer to educate, inspire and mobilize communities against the spread of HIV. Admission to the game will be free with donations being accepted, 100% of which will go to GRS. If you can't make it to the match, live video will be available through the ACC Digital Network.

The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team has been picked to finish fourth in the Horizon League in 2016, according to preseason polling of the league’s head coaches. The Crusaders did pick up three first-place votes, matching the most of any team in the league.

Aidoud Signs Professional Contract in France
Valparaiso University men’s soccer head coach Mike Avery confirmed today that 2015 Crusader co-captain Jordan Aidoud (Lyon, France) signed a professional contract last week with Jura Sud Foot. Jura Sud is based in Lavans-les-Saint-Claude in eastern France, and currently competes in Group C of the CFA, which is the 4th tier of soccer in France. Aidoud joins an impressive list of former Crusaders who have moved on to professional soccer following their graduation from Valparaiso.
