Valpo Men Drop Dual at IUPUI

David Peterson won a pair of events for Valparaiso on Tuesday afternoon, but the Crusaders dropped a dual meet 147-82 to IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind.

Peterson was victorious in both the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke for the Crusaders. His time of 1:59.46 was nearly three seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Peterson also triumphed by more than a second-and-a-half in the 100 breast with his time of 1:00.51. He also finished second in the 100 backstroke by less than a second with a mark of 56.44 seconds.

Travers Smith recorded the only other individual victory for Valpo on the day. His time of 4:55.22 was 11 seconds in front of his nearest opponent. Smith also finished second in the 200 free on the afternoon, touching the wall in 1:47.87.

Valpo's 200 free relay of Smith, Bob Pedersen, Josh Stamper, and David Kesler took home a win in the final event of the day, finishing in a time of 1:30.32.

Kesler earned an individual second place finish in the 100 free, in addition to his relay victory. He finished with a time of 51.36 seconds. Pedersen also earned an individual runner-up finish, doing so in the 50 free. His time of 22.94 seconds was just .60 seconds off of the pace.

Valpo (2-2) will return to action on December 31, as the Crusaders compete in the Ed Kennedy Relays in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
