Valpo Drops a Double Dual in Green Bay

Valparaiso lost both ends of a double-dual meet in Green Bay, Wis. on Saturday afternoon as the Crusaders fell to Wisconsin-Green Bay 121-70 and South Dakota State 132-70.

David Peterson (Schererville, Ind./Highland H.S.) won the 200 breaststroke for the Brown and Gold with a time of 2:11.54, a victory of nearly three seconds. He also finished third in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:19.20.

The Crusaders also took home several third place finishes. Dan Cisek (Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale South H.S.) earned a third in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:38.83 while Bob Pedersen (Urbana, Ill./Urbana H.S.) earned the same in the 200 free (1:54.73). Pedersen also finished third in the 200 butterfly with his time of 2:08.40.

David Kesler (Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Groves H.S.) touched the wall third in the 50 free with a mark of 23.32 seconds while Travis Thames (Tucson, Ariz./Canyon Del Oro H.S.) did the same in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:04.84. Travers Smith (Huntley, Ill./Huntley H.S.) was third in the 500 free in 5:05.31.

Valpo (1-5) will return to the pool on Sunday afternoon again against South Dakota State and also Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Milwaukee, Wis. The meet will begin at 1 p.m.
