Valpo's Hillmer Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team

            Valparaiso University’s Ansel Hillmer (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough H.S.) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District V At-Large Second Team.

            The Crusader junior turned in the school’s second fastest 100 butterfly time (51.81) and fourth fastest 200 fly (1:59.97) marks in history this season.  Hillmer also was a member of Valpo’s third fastest 200 medley relay all-time.

            A member of the Horizon League’s Fall Academic Honor Roll and All-Academic Team as well, Hillmer won three individual races throughout the season.  He has a 3.80 cumulative grade point average as a double major in physics and mathematics.

            To be eligible for Academic All-District and Academic All-America, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average of 3.20, and be either a starter or key reserve.  District V consists of schools in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ontario, and Manitoba.

            The at-large teams include tennis, swimming and diving, ice hockey, skiing, volleyball, golf, wrestling, water polo, rifle, lacrosse, and gymnastics.
