Women Take 6th, Men 7th at Indiana Intercollegiate Invitational
Makenna Cannon was the second leg of the 200-yard medley team that earned the Crusaders 26 points at the Indiana Intercollegiate Invitational Saturday.

Less than 18 hours after the Crusaders got out of the pool Friday night in Valparaiso, they jumped back in in West Lafayette for the Indiana Intercollegiate Invitational.

The Crusader women finished in sixth place with 90 points, while the men settled for 93 points, good for a seventh place result.

Valpo burst out of the gate with points early as the 200-yard medley relay team of Ciara Lightner (Dixon, Ill./Dixon), Makenna Cannon (Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine), Marley Cripe (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville [Liberty]), and Emily Trimpe (New Palestine, Ill./New Palestine) stopped the clock at 1:55.93 in the finals, earning the team 26 points. 

Later, Cripe earned an additional 15 points as she placed fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.67.

Junior Ali Taubert (Bloomington, Ill./University) competed in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 5:34.22 which earned her four points. Trimpe matched Taubert's grab of four points as she 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke. 

The 200-yard freestyle relay saw the quartet of Cripe, Allie Berry (Brighton, Mich./Brighton), Lightner, and Lauren Knop (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) go off for 30 points as they hit the wall at 1:43.03. 

On the men's side, the 200-medley relay team of Matt King (Clinton, Ill./Clinton), Frederick Jenny (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany), Gonzalo Castro Diaz (Mexico City, Mexico), and Tate Wegehaupt (Tigard, Ore./Tigard) garnered 30 points with their 1:38.53 finish. 

Castro Diaz picked up a couple points with a 2:01,94, 15th-place finish in the 200-yard IM.

Junior Kyle Braun (McHenry, Ill./West) stopped the clock at 50.63 in the 100-yard freestyle for five points. King also scored five in the 100-yard backstroke. 

Freshman Brian Wasicak (West Des Moines, Iowa/Maine West) recorded nine points via a ninth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.13.

Wegehaupt pocketed a dozen points when he hit the wall at 59.68 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Jenny, Braun, Castro Daiz, and King finished off the afternoon with a fifth-place result, good for 28 points.

The Crusaders will have two weeks before heading to Indianapolis to compete in the IUPUI Invitational on Friday, Nov. 8th.
