Crusaders Lose 7th Straight

Valparaiso's men's tennis team dropped its seventh straight match on Tuesday afternoon, falling to Butler 7-0 in Indianapolis.

The Bulldogs jumped in front early, winning at both first and second doubles by 8-2 and 8-1 scores respectively, while taking third doubles by default.

In singles play, Jay Adams (Detroit, Mich./Andover H.S.) battled to a super tie-break for the Crusaders before falling 4-6, 6-0, 10-7 at fourth singles. Nic Kooyers (Holland, Mich./Holland H.S.) dropped a 6-3, 7-5 contest at the top spot.

Butler (10-6) won second, third, and fifth singles handily in straight sets and took sixth singles by default.

Valpo (2-11) will open Mid-Continent Conference play this weekend with cluster action in Shreveport, La. The Crusaders will face Oral Roberts on Friday beginning at 1 p.m.
