Men's Tennis Receives Two NLIs
Head men's tennis coach Jim Daugherty announced the signing of Brian Pecyna and Chad Kissell to the Crusader program on Tuesday.

Head coach Jim Daugherty announced the addition of two future Crusaders to the men's tennis program Tuesday.

Brian Pecyna and Chad Kissell will be joining the Crusader men's team beginning next fall.

Pecyna carries a 218th national ranking according to tennisrecruiting.net. Additionally, he is ranked 27th in the Great Lakes region. The Glen Ellyn, Illinois native was homeschooled and will pursue a business degree while at Valparaiso.

"Brian has had some injuries recently that have kept him off the court, but he is a hard worker with size and a big game. When he is exposed to the day in and day out training with the other guys on the team there is no doubt his game will reach the high level of potential he possesses," Daugherty said.

Kissell, a four-year letterwinner at Greater Latrobe High School in Pennsylvania, is a five-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net. He's ranked 2nd in the Middle States and 65th nationally.

Kissell already has three tennis section championships under his belt and will be in pursuit of his fourth this coming spring.

An exceptional all-around athlete, Kissell will become the first male athlete at Greater Latrobe to collect 12 varsity letters (tennis, golf, basketball). He has placed 11th at the golf state championship and owns school records for most matches won and lowest season average.

"We are extremely excited to have Chad joining our program. He is the youngest sibling of four who all played Division 1 tennis. He plays a big game with a dominating serve and forehand. We are looking forward to getting him on campus as he will look to have an immediate impact for our squad in both singles and doubles," Daugherty stated.
