Kissell Recognized as All-Summit League Selection

Valparaiso University junior Chad Kissell (Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) has been named to the 2018 Men’s Tennis All-Summit Team, which was announced by the league office on Thursday evening.

Kissell owns a 15-14 singles record and an 18-10 mark in doubles action this season. He is 3-3 in Summit League play this spring in his first season playing No. 1 singles. With a full season still to come, he already ranks in the Top 10 in program history in career singles and doubles wins.

Kissell was named the Summit League Player of the Week on April 3 after helping the Crusaders to a 7-0 win over Oral Roberts. The Valpo junior is a three-team all-league honoree after being named to the All-Horizon League First Team in his freshman and sophomore seasons. Kissell was also recognized as the Horizon League Freshman of the Year in 2015-16.

Valpo will face off with Denver on Friday at 7 p.m. CT / 6 p.m. MT in the Summit League Tournament semifinals in Denver, Colo. The Crusaders were one of four teams to qualify for the tournament field. This will mark an opportunity to avenge a narrow 4-3 regular season loss from way back on Jan. 27 as the Crusaders attempt to take down the four-time defending league champions.
