Valparaiso University men’s tennis senior Brandon Ancona (Belvidere, Ill. / Rockford Christian) completed his trip to Malibu, Calif. on Friday. He fell 7-5, 6-2 to Baylor’s Sven Lah in Oracle ITA Masters singles consolation bracket play. His week in California was highlighted by a mixed doubles opening-round victory over an Illinois duo on Thursday.
Ancona, who earned the right to participate in the event by virtue of his 2019 Summit League Player of the Year honor, competed in two singles matches and two doubles matches over the course of two days at the Malibu Racquet Club and Pepperdine University. All of his matches were competitive against a field of elite players from across the nation.
