Nunnelly Sets School Record at Meyo Invitational

Valparaiso University's Nate Nunnelly (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) set a new school record in the 800m, while teammate Aaron Crague (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central H.S.) finished seventh in the 3,000m run on Saturday afternoon at the Meyo Invitational held in Notre Dame, Ind.

Nunnelly bettered Kevin Ullman's 2001 school record of 1:54.85 by .06 seconds, finishing with a time of 1:54.79 to place 22nd in the event. Dennis Kabara (Chuka, Kenya/Meru H.S.) also ran in the 800m, finishing in 1:59.66.

Crague ran a stellar 3,000m, finishing seventh in a field of 33 runners. The fifth-year senior's time of 8:25.47 was the best in the Mid-Continent Conference this season.

Valpo will return to action next Friday when the Crusaders travel to Lewis. The meet kicks off at 4:30 p.m. in Romeoville, Ill.
