With third-place performances from Antwon Hatchett (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) and Justin Zosso (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton), the Crusader men finished the Chicagoland Championships in sixth-place with 48 total points. Twenty teams competed at the Championships.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Hatchett overcame a brutal wind to finish third in the event with a time of 57.18. With the time, Hatchett tied both a personal best, as well as the fifth-fastest time in program history.
In the pole vault, Zosso cleared 14’1 ¼” for third overall in the event, and third in program history.
Jordan Kelly (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) and Don Middlebrook (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) also took top-ten finishes in the pole vault; Kelly finished fifth (13’7 ¼”), while Middlebrook took ninth (12’7 ½”).
The 4x400-meter relay team of Hatchett, Chad Brooks (Hobart, Ind./Hobart), Tyler Crum (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth), and Joe Holy (Bolingbrook, Ill./Joliet Catholic) finished fifth with a time of 3:32.78.
Elijah Owen (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) threw for 163’11” in the javelin, a mark good for fourth-place. Brennen Miller finished ninth, throwing for 138’2”.
Jacob Smutz (West Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) finished seventh in the discus with mark of 127’10”.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Collin Warke (Romeoville, Ill./Plainfield East) finished in ninth-place (11:03.01).
Up next, the Crusader men travel to Chicago, Ill. to compete in the DePaul Invitational on Saturday, April 19th.
