15 Crusaders Earn Spring Academic All-League Honors


15 Valparaiso student-athletes earned spots on the Horizon League Spring Academic All-League teams, as announced by the league office this morning. Men’s outdoor track and field had five athletes honored, while baseball, men’s golf and women’s outdoor track and field each had three selections to go with one from men’s tennis.


Getz Closes Out Stellar Career at NCAA East Regional Meet


Valparaiso University men’s track and field senior Jeremy Getz (Colorado Springs, Colo.) closed out a great career competing for the Crusaders at the NCAA East Preliminary Round in Jacksonville, Fla. on Friday, unleashing a toss of 191’10” (58.47m) in his second of three efforts at the javelin throw.


Getz, Drozdowski Qualify for East Preliminary Championships

The record setting and far-throwing senior duo of Jeremy Getz and Sarah Drozdowski will represent the Valparaiso track and field teams at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor East Preliminary Championships in Jacksonville on May 28-30.

Five Crusaders captured titles and Chris Sosnowski threw the third-farthest discus in school history at the inaugural Crusader Open, the first track meet held at Valpo in 50 years.


Valpo Set to Host Inaugural Crusader Open


The Valparaiso track and field teams will host the first home meet in over 50 years on Saturday at the new Warren G. Hoger Track at Brown Field. Action gets underway at 10:30 CT with throwing events at Eastgate Field. Jumps will start at Hoger Track and 1:00 pm with running events starting 30 minutes later.

Valparaiso University placed eight student-athletes over four sports on the Horizon League’s 2015 Winter Academic All-League Teams, as announced today by the league office.
