Alexander Bruno won his heat at the Texas Relays on Thursday.

Junior Alexander Bruno (Bloomington, Ill./University) and senior Ben Zibricky (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) qualified in the 1500 meter run for the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin this week. The four-day event invites over 7,000 athletes from high school to college, including international athletes and Olympians. There are 195 colleges represented, along with 21 countries from around the world with athletes competing at the event.

Bruno finished first in his heat with a time of 3:52.11. With that effort, he moves up to third all-time in the Valpo outdoor record book and tops his best time from last season. His time was the fifth overall after the second heat was completed. The top time was 3:47.21.

Zibricky strained his hamstring, but battled through to finish the race 14th in his heat with a time of 4:05.92.
