Valparaiso University men’s track & field senior Will Maidment (Woodstock, Ill. / Woodstock) has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team for his performances in competition and in the classroom this year.
Maidment, who owns a 3.47 cumulative grade point average in civil engineering, earned All-MVC honors by placing third in the high jump with a mark of 2.03 meters (6-8) at the MVC Outdoor Championships. His personal-record jump tied for third in program history as he recorded Valpo’s best outdoor high jump since Mark Massey’s 6-8 in 1998.
In addition, Maidment placed in the top eight in the high jump at the MVC Indoor Championships with a height of 1.91m (6-3.25) in February.
To qualify for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team in track & field, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or better, be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and have placed in the top eight of an individual event or top three in a relay event at the Indoor or Outdoor MVC Championships.
