Valparaiso University men’s track & field fifth-year senior Emanuel Daggett (Chicago, Ill. / Gavit) received recognition this week for his performance both in competition and in the classroom as he was named to the CoSIDA Academic-All-District Team, which is made up of track & field and cross-country student-athletes from the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.

Daggett, who owns a 3.83 cumulative grade point average in cybersecurity, has been a standout both in competition and in the classroom throughout his tenure on Valpo’s campus. Daggett, who graduated from Gavit High School in Hammond, Ind. in three years prior to arriving at Valpo, was a standout sprinter for the Brown & Gold.

Daggett’s name is etched in the Valpo track & field record book in numerous locations, as he ranks fifth in program history in the indoor 200-meter dash (22.53, 2020), third in the indoor 400 (48.96, 2020) and tied for third in the outdoor 400 (48.80, 2021). He was also part of a 2019 4x400 relay squad that posted a 3:23.35, fifth in program lore. He garnered 2020 All-Missouri Valley Conference accolades in the 400-meter dash by virtue of a 48.96.

CoSIDA Academic All-District honorees will advance to the organization’s Academic All-America ballot.
