Tuesday, June 20, 2006
Carrie Franson (Arlington, Wis./Poynette), part of the 2007 Valpo recruiting class, has been named the Division 3 Player of the Year by the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association (WFSCA) for the second straight year.

The senior, who led the Indians to the State Semi-Finals in 2006, also earned a spot on the WFSCA All-State, All-Divisions First Team for the second year in a row. In 13 appearances as a senior, Franson went 12-1 with a 0.47 ERA, allowing only four earned runs and 19 hits in 76.2 innings while recording 151 strikeouts.

In 2005, Franson led Poynette to a State Championship, going 13-0 and tossing seven no-hitters and a perfect game.

Meanwhile, Whitney Warner (Indianapolis, Ind./Center Grove), the other half of Valpo's 2007 recruiting class, also took her team to the State Semi-Finals, falling to Chesterton in the IHSAA's 4A Division.
