Valparaiso University senior Taylor Weissenhofer (Orland Park, Ill./Lockport Township) has been named the Horizon League Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season after tossing a pair of shutouts for the Crusaders last week.

Weissenhofer opened the week in non-league action against Bowling Green, allowing just three hits and striking out eight batters in the shutout of the Falcons. Then, in Horizon League action Sunday versus Northern Kentucky, the senior tossed her second one-hitter of the season, shutting down the Norse while striking out seven hitters and not allowing a hit until one out in the sixth inning.

For the week, Weissenhofer was unscored upon in 13 innings of work, striking out 15 hitters while opponents hit just .093 off of her. The senior didn’t give up an extra-base hit in either game and allowed just one runner past second base in the pair of shutouts.
