Juniors Carly Trepanier (Manteno, Ill./Manteno) and Kelsie Packard (Beloit, Wis./Turner [Rock Valley College]) represented the Valparaiso University softball team on the Missouri Valley Conference Softball All-Tournament Team, as announced at the conclusion of the tournament Saturday afternoon.

Trepanier notched a pair of extra-base hits in the Crusaders’ tournament opener against Indiana State. The junior led off the bottom of the first with a double, and then with nobody on and two out in the fifth, lifted her second home run of the year the opposite way down the left-field line to spark Valpo’s three-run rally for the come-from-behind victory. For Trepanier, it is her second career All-Tournament Team honor, as she was also an All-Tournament selection at the 2016 Horizon League Tournament.

Packard recorded the victory in the circle as Valpo won its first-ever MVC Tournament game, tossing 6.2 innings against Indiana State and giving up just two runs while striking out six batters.  Packard then came back in the Crusaders’ loss to regular season and eventual tournament champions Drake and threw three innings of one-hit shutout ball out of the bullpen, striking out four.
