Valpo Softball junior pitcher Jenna Edwards (Winchester, Ky./George Rogers Clark [Chattanooga State C.C.]) has earned a spot on the Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament Team following her pair of complete-game efforts in the circle at the tournament.
Edwards saved her first shutout in the Brown and Gold for the biggest stage, as she opened the MVC Tournament with a six-hit blanking of Evansville in Valpo’s tournament opener. The junior struck out six in the complete-game shutout and kept the Purple Aces off the scoreboard with a season-high 148 pitches, stranding 10 Evansville runners on base.
19 hours later, Edwards went the distance again in the circle as Valpo faced Illinois State. Edwards scattered seven hits while throwing 104 pitches in her second complete game in as many days.
For the tournament, Edwards posted a 2.15 ERA in her two starts, striking out nine batters in 13 innings of work. Her shutout of Evansville was the 10th complete-game shutout by a Valpo pitcher in a conference tournament game in program history.
