Softball Adds Autumn Acord to 2023 Roster

The Valpo softball program will add a mid-year transfer to its 2023 roster, as head coach Meaggan Pettipiece announced today that Autumn Acord will enroll at Valparaiso University and join the program for the spring semester. Acord will be immediately eligible for the Beacons and has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Autumn Acord – 5’2” – C/OF – LaGrange, Ohio – Keystone H.S. – Kent State

Acord comes to Valpo after playing parts of three seasons at Kent State, appearing in 39 games and starting on 11 occasions. Acord enjoyed an outstanding prep career at Keystone H.S., where she was named a MaxPreps All-American and an Extra Innings All-American in addition to earning All-State, All-District, All-County and All-Conference recognition. Acord helped Keystone reach the state semifinals in each of her four seasons, including a state championship in 2018 and another title game appearance in 2016.

Acord on why she chose Valpo: “When I went on a visit to Valparaiso, I knew right away it would be my home. All of the players and coaches were super welcoming. I am so excited to start my journey here in the spring!”

Pettipiece on Acord: “We are very excited to welcome junior catcher/outfielder Autumn Acord to our roster this spring. Autumn comes to us with valuable experience she has had at another great institution, Kent State. I believe Autumn will have a direct impact on our team's success this spring. She not only has a lot of talent, but also has great character which will help lead our program on and off the field.”
