Mikos Earns Mid-Con Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Valparaiso University's Liz Mikos (Dundee, Ill./Jacobs H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Crusaders to a 5-0 start, the best in school history.

Mikos was named Most Valuable Player of the Titan Classic at Cal State Fullerton while leading the Brown and Gold to the Tournament title. For the first five matches of the season, she tallied 30 blocks (2.00/gm), including nine solos. She had match highs of nine in a win against the host Titans and eight at UC Riverside.

The sophomore middle blocker also hit .328 for the week averaging 3.00 kills per game.

The Crusaders will host their annual Valparaiso Popcorn Classic this weekend beginning with a match against Cleveland State at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening.
