Norman Named to Academic All-District V Second Team

Valparaiso University's Cyndi Norman (Minooka, Ill./Minooka H.S.) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District V Volleyball Second Team.

The senior setter ranks second all-time at Valpo with 4,737 assists, a figure that also is third in Mid-Continent Conference history. As a sophomore and junior, she earned First Team All Mid-Con honors. She currently is second in the conference in assists per game with 11.90.

This season, Norman has helped the Crusaders to a 24-7 record overall and a 12-1 mark in Mid-Con play. Valpo is assured of at least a share of the conference title, and can win it outright with a victory over Oakland on Friday evening.

In the classroom, Norman has also excelled, posting a 3.70 grade point average while majoring in biology and psychology. She is a two-time member of the Mid-Con All-Academic Team.

The All-Academic Team is voted on by members of CoSIDA from District V which encompasses the states Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, along with the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario. To be eligible for Academic All-District, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own an minimum grade-point average of 3.20, and be either a starter or key reserve.
