The Valparaiso University volleyball team rebounded after two straight five-game defeats to defeat Central Michigan 30-18, 30-25, 16-30, 30-24 on Saturday afternoon in the Michigan/Nike Challenge held in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Valpo hit .211 for the match and tallied 89 digs while holding the Chippewas to .184 hitting and 71 digs.

Marion Hansen (Huntley, Ill./Huntley H.S.) led the Crusaders with 15 kills and 18 digs, while Michelle Robinson (Bloomington, Ill./Normal H.S.) added 13 kills. Lauren Moulton (Elgin, Ill./Larkin H.S.) added 12 kills while hitting .310 for the Brown and Gold.

Defensively, Sara Silcox (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City H.S.) recorded a match-high 21 digs, while Lindsey Moore (Wakarusa, Ind./Penn H.S.) added 17 more. Cyndi Norman (Minooka, Ill./Minooka H.S.) turned in a double-double with ten digs and 49 assists.

Emily Lovejoy led the Chippewas with 18 klils and 17 digs, while Melissa Reynolds added 14 kills and 17 digs for Central Michigan (5-7).

Valparaiso (11-3) will battle host Michigan later on Saturday evening in a 6 p.m. CDT match.
