Valpo Defeats Saint Louis for Second Straight Day

Paced by five players that reached double-figures in kills, Valparaiso defeated Saint Louis 30-24, 19-30, 30-22, 30-24 on Saturday morning at the Billiken Invitational.

The Crusaders hit .327 for the day led by Jessi Novak's (Antigo, Wis./Antigo H.S.) 15 kills and .357 hitting. She also added ten digs to complete the double-double. Liz Mikos (Dundee, Ill./Jacobs H.S.) added 14 kills while hitting .357 and Lauren Moulton (Elgin, Ill./Larkin H.S.) chipped in 14 kills and six blocks. Jessie Fox (Granger, Ind./Penn H.S.) had 14 kills while Amy Palash (Winfield, Ill./Saint Francis H.S.) posted 12 kills and digs.

Katie Bova (Milwaukee, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels H.S.) added 60 assists and 12 digs, while Sara Silcox (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City H.S.) had a match-high 20 digs.

Aida Antanaviciute led the Billikens with 29 kills and hit .386, while Sutton Lasater and Jessica Poorbaugh each had ten kills.

Valpo had 61 digs for the match compared with Saint Louis's 48 but was outblocked 11-10.

Valparaiso (8-3) will return to action later this afternoon against North Texas beginning at 2 p.m. CDT.
