Crusaders Clinch Second Straight Mid-Con Title

Valparaiso clinched the Mid-Continent Conference title outright for the second straight season on Friday evening, as the Crusaders defeated Chicago State 30-22, 30-24, 30-14 on the road.

Liz Mikos (Dundee, Ill./Jacobs H.S.) led the way for the Crusaders with nine kills and hit .500 while adding six blocks. Jessie Fox (Granger, Ind./Penn H.S.) added a team-high ten kills while hitting .429.

Katie Bova (Milwaukee, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels H.S.) registered a match-high 20 digs, while hitting .545 and dishing out 35 assists. Amy Palash (Winfield, Ill./Saint Francis H.S.) added 19 digs.

Stacey Cole led the Cougars with 16 kills and ten digs, while Alison West added ten kills.

Valpo hit .322 for the match while holding the hosts to .072 hitting. Valpo added 67 digs and 11 blocks, while Chicago State (10-18, 5-6 Mid-Con) had just 51 digs and five blocks.

Valparaiso (24-4, 12-0) will head to Indianapolis, Ind. on Saturday for a 6 p.m. CST match against IUPUI.
