Anderson, Carlson Earn All-MVC Accolades

Valparaiso University sophomore setter Brittany Anderson (East Chicago, Ind./Bishop Noll) was named a First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference honoree, while senior outside hitter Katherine Carlson (Lake Orion, Mich./Notre Dame Prep) earned Second Team All-MVC honors as the conference unveiled its postseason award winners Thursday prior to the start of the MVC Tournament.

Anderson has set every point of this season for Valpo and ranks fourth nationally in total assists with 1,335 assists entering the MVC Tournament. She already ranks ninth in a single season in program history in assists, and is one match away from moving up to sixth and potentially just two matches away from moving up to second on that chart. Anderson also ranks second on the team in blocks with 75, and has picked up 332 digs as well – fourth-most among Valpo players. She earns First Team All-MVC honors this year after being an All-Freshman Team selection last year.

Carlson leads Valpo this year with 333 total kills, is second on the team with 25 service aces and ranks third on the team with 383 digs. She has led Valpo in kills on eight occasions this season and has registered 15 double-doubles. Carlson continues to climb Valpo’s career charts, as she now ranks fifth in program history in service aces – second-most among players from the last 25 years – and seventh in kills. Carlson also ranks 17th among all active D-I players in career aces.
