Seibert to be Honored at Pink Game October 11; Volleyball Raising Money for Scholarship in Her Honor

The Valpo volleyball program will be hosting its annual Pink Game in honor of breast cancer awareness this Friday evening, October 11, but this year’s game will have an extra-special meaning for the volleyball team. Rin Seibert will be the game’s special guest of honor, and the program is raising money to go to a scholarship which will be presented in Seibert’s name.

Seibert, an associate director of athletics and director of recreational sports, has been an inspiration to a multitude of student-athletes during her nearly 40 years of service to Valparaiso University, mentoring them in the classroom, on the court, and in the community. She has also been a fixture at the Pink Game events the University and its athletic teams have hosted over the last 15 years.

Unfortunately, Seibert is currently in the midst of her third battle with cancer. The volleyball program wanted to do something special to recognize her courage and faith through her battles and to thank her for her continued support of Valpo volleyball, Valpo Athletics and the kinesiology department.

To do so, the team has set out to raise $5,000 through crowdfunding to award one student with a scholarship in Seibert’s name. All proceeds from pink gear sales at the October 11 and 12 home volleyball matches will go towards the scholarship. Donations to the scholarship can also be made online by visiting https://crowdfunding.valpo.edu/.

Come on out to the ARC Friday evening at 6 p.m. to watch Valpo volleyball face off with Missouri State, honor Seibert and donate to the scholarship!
