Boone and Stangler Earn All-Conference Honors; Rietema Named to All-Newcomer Team

Valparaiso University's Katie Boone (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove H.S.) and Jenna Stangler (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville H.S.) each earned All Mid-Continent Conference Team honors, while Betsy Rietema (Grand Rapids, Mich./Christian H.S.) was named to the league's All-Newcomer Team for the 2003-2004 season. The Mid-Con head coaches, sports information directors, and media voted upon the honors.

Boone was named to the Mid-Con's Second Team following another stellar campaign for the Brown and Gold. The junior point guard averaged 6.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.1 assists during the regular season.

Stangler was an Honorable Mention All Mid-Con pick after leading the Crusaders in scoring and rebounding this season. During the regular season, the junior averaged 10.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest.

Rietema earned All-Newcomer Team accolades after leading Valpo in scoring during Mid-Con play, tallying 9.9 points per night. She also led the Crusaders, helping lead the Brown and Gold to a second place finish in league play.

Valpo will face IUPUI on Saturday evening in the quarterfinals of the Hereford House Mid-Continent Conference Tournament. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. CST in Kansas City, Mo.
