Kulaga Named Player of the Week for Second Time

            Agnieszka Kulaga (Tarnow, Poland/I Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace H.S.) has earned her second Horizon League Player of the Week honor following her performance on Saturday afternoon in leading Valparaiso to a 77-69 victory over Butler.

            In the Crusaders’ inaugural Horizon League contest, the 5’6” guard exploded for a career-high 29 points, six rebounds, six steals, and four assists.  Kulaga was 9-of-15 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from long range, and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line.

            Kulaga, who also earned the honor on December 10, is averaging 21.0 points per game over her last seven contests.  The junior leads Valpo in scoring on the season, and is fourth in the Horizon League, averaging 16.0 points per night.  She is third in the league shooting 86.0% from the charity stripe and eighth in the league in field goal percentage at 52.3%.  Kulaga also ranks seventh in the Horizon League in assists, 3.25 per game, and is 10th with a 1.05 assist-to-turnover ratio.

            Kulaga and Valpo (6-6, 1-0 Horizon) will return to the floor on Thursday evening as the Crusaders face UIC in Chicago in a 7 p.m. contest.
