Valpo's Hochstetler Earns Scholar-Athlete of the Month Honors

Launa Hochstetler (Berlin, Ohio/Hiland H.S.) has been named the U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month for February.

The senior guard led Valpo to a 5-3 record during the month while averaging 15.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game.  Hochstetler tied her career high with 24 points against Butler on February 21 while adding 22 more against Wright State earlier in the month (Feb. 8) against Wright State.  She recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 11 assists against Chicago State on February 17.

In the classroom, Hochstetler maintains a 3.72 grade point average and was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Second Team as voted upon by CoSIDA.  She is a three-time member of the Horizon League’s Academic Honor Roll and has also been named to Valpo’s Dean’s List.  She was also named the Horizon League’s Scholar-Athlete of the Week in December.
