There were many memorable moments in Valpo Athletics in 2018, but only one cracked SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays. That came courtesy of women’s basketball player Maya Meredith, who checked in at No. 9 on the SC Top 10 last February and has now garnered the No. 7 spot in our countdown of the best moments in Valpo Athletics this year.

With 2.3 seconds remaining in regulation and Valpo trailing Southern Illinois 66-63 on Feb. 16 at the Athletics-Recreation Center, Marlee Profitt served a long baseline inbounds pass to Meredith near the half-court line. She dribbled into the forecourt and launched from 40 feet, banking one in to send the ARC into a frenzy and the game into overtime.
Southern Illinois eventually pulled out an 88-86 win in double OT, but the Meredith shot remained an unforgettable moment.
The countdown continues on Thursday as we unveil the No. 6 moment of the year in Valpo Athletics.
