Olivia Sims Signs With Women’s Basketball Program
Olivia Sims will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Valpo women’s basketball head coach Mary Evans announced today that Olivia Sims, a 5-9 guard from Holland, Ohio, has signed with the Beacons and will join the program for the 2022-23 season. Sims will transfer to Valpo after spending her freshman season at Oakland and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

“We are really excited to have Olivia joining our family!” Evans said. “She is an elite shooter and an extremely competitive person. She played for an elite high school program in Ohio and had a good start to her collegiate career at Oakland. As good of a player as Olivia is, she is an even better person and I am excited to have her join our Valpo community.”

Sims averaged 5.4 points/game and hit at a 46.9% clip from the 3-point line in 12 appearances, making three starts for the Golden Grizzlies as a freshman in 2021-22. She scored in double figures four times last season, including a 12-point (4-6 3PT), five-rebound performance against Michigan State and a 10-point effort versus Michigan.

Sims played her prep basketball for Ohio powerhouse Notre Dame Academy. She was a Second Team All-State selection as a senior after earning Third Team All-State honors as a junior. A multiple time All-District and All-League choice as well, Sims helped the Eagles claim four straight league and district titles, win three consecutive regional championships and make three straight appearances in the state semifinals.
