Valpo women’s basketball rising junior Olivia Sims (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy [Oakland]) has been selected to attend the 2023 Athletes in Action (AIA) Women’s Basketball Leadership Retreat, which will be held at the AIA World Headquarters in Xenia, Ohio this weekend, May 19-21.

“I am super excited to go to the leadership retreat and I am honored to be chosen to attend!” Sims said. “I am most excited to learn more about leadership and how I can be a better leader in all aspects of my life.”

The weekend gives emerging leaders the opportunity to fine tune their leadership skills, while gaining insight from successful leaders from many different walks of life. It also provides players the opportunity to build strong relationships that will continue to support them long after the experience and learn practical ways to find physical, mental, and emotional rest.

After completing the AIA Women’s Basketball Leadership Retreat, players can expect to have a better understanding of themselves, a better understanding of how to be an effective leader, and a personal development plan that will help them maximize their natural leadership skills for their team and for their future.
