Bowling Closes Out Big Red Invitational

The #25 Valparaiso University bowling team finished up the Big Red Invitational from Lincoln, Neb. on Saturday, closing the tournament in sixth place.

How It Happened

  • Valpo opened bracket play versus #10 Central Missouri in the best-of-seven baker format. The Crusaders bested the Jennies easily in the first game, 220-138, but UCM would claim the next four games – including a tight 187-183 decision in game five – to earn the 4-1 win.
  • The Crusaders would end up facing Central Missouri in their second and final match of the day as well, and this time got out to a 3-0 lead with efforts of 187, 191 and 224 in the first three games. But the Jennies rallied, rolling four straight games of 186 or better while Valpo was unable to crack 180 in any of the final three games. A 186-170 decision against the Crusaders in the finale closed out a 4-3 loss.
