Bowling Closes Out Warhawk Classic Sunday

The Valparaiso University bowling team closed out a stretch of four tournaments in four consecutive weekends to open the season on Sunday morning as they concluded competition at the Warhawk Classic in Kenosha, Wis., hosted by UW-Whitewater.

How It Happened

  • The Crusaders opened Sunday’s bracket play, contested in the best-of-seven baker format, against the host institution. Valpo took the first game from the #11 Warhawks, 221-181, but UW-Whitewater claimed each of the next four games to earn the victory.
  • The loss dropped Valpo into a matchup against Elmhurst in its second contest of the day. The Crusaders were able to muster just one game win against the Blue Jays – a 200-159 win in game five – as Elmhurst earned the 4-1-1 victory.
  • Valpo closed out the tournament on a winning note, taking down Lincoln (Mo.) by a 4-1 final, capped by a 219 game to close out the win.

Next Up

The Crusaders (24-24) will now take a break from competition until after the holiday season. Valpo returns to action on the lanes in mid-January at the Mid-Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark.
